Ever since the industrial revolution, the wildlife all over the world has faced a very hard time in the long run of survival. The development in urban areas and industrialization has caused a serious threat to wildlife. In older times, wildlife had their own specific regions where they lived for ages. Unfortunately, that’s not the case anymore. The human has evolved to be a serious threat to nature indirectly with its activities. The common threats to wildlife include ever-increasing effects of pollution, climate change due to global warming, illegal poaching of animals, the destruction of forests and accidental deaths due to over-speeding by human beings while driving through the forests. All these factors add up in the distinction of wildlife from the earth eventually. The common threats to wildlife are all linked to the activities of human beings or a result of them indirectly. The development leading to urbanization and construction of huge structures has been the root cause of disturbance to various species of animals on earth. There is an urgent need to sort out the extinction of animals from the planet due to which the ecosystem may well get destroyed completely. The disturbance in the ecosystem has already led to various effects on our environment and it may become even more fatal if it stayed this way for any longer. We can reduce the threats by the individual efforts of every single individual around the globe. There are several organizations already working globally for the protection of wildlife such as WWF. A number of campaigns are carried out across the world for awareness among the people. Although, it’s not an easy job to protect wildlife from the threats we have already created for them we need to step up to make sure the earth stays in balance.
Millions of animals around the world die just because of the carelessness of human beings on the road. Due to the urbanization, forests were divided due to the construction of roads through them. Humans have always looked to expand its approach which has put negative effects on the wildlife. Many species of animals are now afraid of crossing the roads and stay divided into their respective parts of the forest. The ecosystem receives a major hit when disturbed by the development projects. There are several cases of hitting the animals with a vehicle are reported around the world annually. It doesn’t only kill the endangered species of animals trying to cross the road but has resulted in a loss of hundreds of human lives as well. The common threats to wildlife are the accidental deaths on a road. This is one major threat to the wildlife that can be reduced significantly by careful driving. Nothing can be as dangerous as driving at higher speeds through a thick forest that may cost nature in the shape of extinction of various species of animals. Therefore, to reduce the common threats to wildlife, we should play our part and drive carefully to protect animals from extinction.
Illegal trapping of animals:
The illegal trapping and poaching of animals have caused a serious threat to species of animals. The common threats to wildlife are human activities for fun and teasing purpose. In various parts of the world, the animals are harassed that causes a sense of fear among the animals. The endangered species, if spotted are being caught by various organizations for personal benefits. It doesn’t help the cause of protecting the wildlife. Many animals that are harassed also die in the process due to an excessive amount of fear created by the humans. All these activities must be brought under a legal action by the law enforcement to save the wildlife. The poaching of animals is a serious crime in most parts of the world whereas it is still neglected in some very sensitive areas of forests. The common threats to wildlife include the illegal killing and trapping of animals for business or any other purpose. The culprits must be brought under the law and legal proceedings must take place to discourage others involved in such activities.
Effects of pollution:
It is indeed hard to measure the extent of damage pollution has already done to our atmosphere. The revolution brought by industrialization has provided us with a number of benefits in technology but never the less has destroyed our land with pollution at a larger scale. The heavy smoke from the industries has caused damage to the atmosphere with a high content of carbon. Trees, on the other hand, have been under the sight of illegal cuttings reduces the amount of fresh oxygen in the atmosphere even more. The smoke from vehicles carries a number of chemicals that are dangerous for animals as well as human beings. The common threats to wildlife include the pollution in our environment that has led to the death of several species of animals in a very short period of time. The habitat loss makes it even tough for the wildlife to survive in their suitable environment. The common threats to wildlife include the transfer of the ecosystem from one region to another. Moreover, water pollution has been a serious threat to marine life for many years. The plastic thrown on the land eventually gets mixed with the water which enters the landfill. This process pollutes the water and traps the marine wildlife. The plastic bags look like food to them and their intake results in the death of a large number of marine species. It doesn’t end here but comes back to us in the form of marine food that is toxic for human health.
Frequent climate change:
A number of species of wildlife are facing a threat to extinction around the globe. The common threats to wildlife comprise of the frequent climate change due to the global warming affecting our atmosphere. Due to the pollution in and around the urban areas, the linked forests are quite badly affected. The damage to the ozone layer due to the harmful gas emissions has been the root cause of global warming. It leads to frequent changes in the climate around the world. The glacier starts to melt due to increased temperature and the wildlife at colder regions are forced to change their region to survive. During this fight for survival, a large number of species of animals come under a threat of extinction e.g. polar bear. When animals living in cold atmosphere move to the warm climate, it results in the death of a majority of them. Moreover, it also disturbs the ecosystem of that particular region. The temperature around the globe has frequently changed over the past few years leading to a loss of many species and habitat.
Due to the lack of water resources and increasing water pollution, animals are facing a rapid number of deaths each year. The drastic changes in the environment lead to less amount of rainfall throughout the year which forces the animals to fight for survival. Animals move in search of water and in the process they leave behind their natural environment suitable to their body. Especially the endangered species of animals must be saved in order to maintain a balance in the ecosystem. The common threats to wildlife need to be reduced as much as possible to sustain the ecosystem.
